New Header and Logo by Sarah Cordial Designs

The old header was designed by myself but I wanted something better other than just the blog name. I wanted my header to present myself as a Filipina blogger from the Philippines.

I tried to design it myself but my drafts did not satisfy me. It felt incomplete and totally common. I wanted something that my readers will remember and will definitely recall that THAT is the header of This Filipina Mom.

So, I messaged a calligrapher that I hired before for a commissioned artwork after seeing that she’s doing digital art now. I asked her if she can materialize what I have in mind digitally.

I sent her the following pegs and we talked about the design that I have in mind.

I wanted the header to show myself as a Filipina based in the Philippines and I cannot think of any other cultural reference to being Filipino than our very own Jeepneys.

I also have a soft spot for the City of Manila, having went to college in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, I spent five years of my college life in the city. I met my husband in college, we were classmates. We got married eight years after we got together and this year, we celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary. To say the least, I’ve seen the highs and lows of living in Manila and despite the chaos and crowd of Divisoria, Recto and Tondo, I fell in love with the city. So, I wanted a well-known symbol of the city to be seen on the design, the Manila City Hall.

I also wanted the design to show a woman waving and with a dimple on the right cheek. Yup, that would be me. I told the artist that I like carnations and cherry blossoms and the colors pink, yellow, blue and green

Three days after we talked, she finally sent me the design and I was beyond disbelief! Her design is a perfect depiction of what I wanted my blog to look like. It is extraordinary! I have no words other than this is perfect, Sarah!

Sarah, thank you so much for doing this! I really appreciate you rising up to my challenge of doing the city hall lol! But I had no doubt in your creativity and I knew you can make that happen. As I told you, it was beyond my expectations! Much love!
